It’s Election Day in the United States today! If you call America your home, I encourage you to pray and vote for the public officials who will formulate policy and law in our nation.
It is not about who is a better candidate, it is about reminding ourselves that; nobody wins if the Kingdom of God is not represented in our nation.
Your life is the origin of new roads and new horizons and is the mouth of God’s love, God’s life, and God’s provision. Every day is a new opportunity for you to stand in awe and be amazed of what the Lord is doing in our nation. God sometimes may be silent but He is never absent.
We need to listen to the what God is saying (through His word and through prayer) before we run to the media to get the latest news story.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105 KJV)
I remember reciting this verse in Sunday School when I was a young girl and, it is a reminder to all of us that reading God’s word is hearing His voice. The way that we can tune our ears to His voice is to read it until it becomes familiar to us. Without the illumination of His word, we can find ourselves stumbling through life. Everything that we need to know about how to live a successful life and about how to be effective leaders in our nation is included in his word. God’s word is a lamp unto our feet which means that, it provides illumination for the next steps we must take. The more we hear His voice, the more we become familiar with Him and can distinguish between the facts of our circumstance and the truth of His word.
In the midst of this election season, we must have a strong mind.
The mind is the source for every action we take, every decision we make, and every thought we allow to linger.
“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” (Colossians 3:1-2 MSG)
Jesus’ message of love and hope was a global one, but He lived it out locally.
We weren’t created to live independently; we were created to live interdependently.
Each moment is one in which I am pursuing, to the best of my ability, the purpose for which I was created.
You were created to join God in the work that He does.
It starts in our cities. It starts in our nations. It starts N O W.
