In this past week, I have felt” unqualified” to do the work that God has called me to do. {Major Shocker to some of you, no ?!?!?} I know I am not the only one, am I right? There are many of you reading this blog who don’t feel good enough, smart enough, talented enough……. Etc. and that hinders you from moving forward. When I get thoughts like these, I am immediately reminded of the God whom I serve. I am not just an insignificant woman; I am a daughter of the most high God who loves me, who has put passion and purpose within me. He will complete what He has started in my life and in yours too! God gave me Flourishing by Faith and, He gave me YOU! YOU are the audience Christ has given me to speak a word of life and of hope and these words are not my own, they are Gods. His word is alive in me, and I am gifted by God to communicate His life changing truth.
As I walk with Christ daily and I build my relationship with Him, I have learned to trust Him with the deep things of my heart because, they are also the deep things of His heart for me. The more I build this trust with God, the more I know Him and, knowing God means knowing God personally and knowing His nature. My feeling of inadequacy is simply a little “test” trying to take me out of the race I am running. There is no where I can go where God is not with me; there is nothing I can say that God does not know. God is always faithful and always present. I know that the Spirit is equipping me for everything the Lord has called me to do. I have this promise and I KNOW without a shadow of doubt that our Heavenly Father has promised this to you too.
In Luke Chapter 8, verse 22-25, we look at the story where Jesus and His disciples get into a boat and set out. Along their course, an intense storm happens while they’re at sea and the disciples wake up Jesus deadly terrified that they are going to drown. Jesus commands the winds and the waves to calm down and the storm ceases. I paraphrase this story to see two qualities of Christ that we need to take a look at: His ability to sleep in the storm and His ability to calm the storm. From this, we can learn that we need to be able to rest in the midst of the external pressure and then, we need to deal with what is creating that pressure by standing firm on the authority that the Lord has entrusted us with.
“Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you? Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren’t smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it?” (Galatians 3:2-3 MSG)
I am writing this blog post to you today because my foundation is in Christ and in Christ alone. He is enough for me and I am “Flourishing by Faith” in Him. I love that God is fascinated with choosing people who are not “obvious” choices, from a human perspective, to walk into the purpose and destiny He has called them to do. David, the son of Jesse, and the disciples are people who felt unqualified for the job and, God chose them because He knew that they were less likely to think that they would be able to rely on themselves to make anything happen.
Stop trying to do things on your own.
Stop feeling defeated because you don’t have all the answers and you have no idea what will happen next.
God didn’t choose you so you would fail. He chose you so that you would bear fruit, a fruit that would last. (John 15:8) God chose YOU and he didn’t make a mistake when He chose YOU. God is calling you to step into a new level of authority and anointing where it seems that others are better equipped. Nonetheless, rest in the fact that when you feel inadequate or insecure, God has selected you to do what He has called you to.
God has called me to nurture, equip, and empower millennials to do more for God’s kingdom than they can ever imagine.
What has God put on your heart?
Feel free to share in the comment section below what God is doing in you and what He is calling you to do.
Looking forward to hear from you soon!
“So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace.”
2 Corinthians 4:16 (The Message)
