Rise Up

“Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you; spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life”. (Amy Poehler)

I usually never start off my blog posts with a quote but, I thought this one was a perfect way to introduce what I am trying to say. In this season of my life, I have heard God speak more than ever about the importance of the right relationships I should have in my life. I am not talking about the people you say Hi to and just have small talk conversations with all the time, those are called acquaintances. I am talking about the people you do life with everyday who know who you are, who know how important your relationship with God is, and who want to keep you accountable, to make sure that your walk is in line with your calling, your gifting, and ultimately, your purpose.

If you don’t get your relationship with God right and your relationship with yourself right, you won’t get your relationship with others right.

It is impossible for you to know Jesus and not have a heart for others.

There will come a time that the people you were positioned with yesterday and the mentalities that they represent, will not be adequate for where God is taking you. When God speaks, and gives you the go, don’t have a plan b. You do not want to go where God has not gone before you.

The greater we become in God, the less about us our lives become.

You need to commune with the Lord and get filled to give out, in order to lead.

This semester, I took a Honors course at my university called Leadership in Film and in this class, we evaluate and learn about various leadership practices that are exemplified in movies. I made my definition of leadership more specific by stating that, “it is the process by which an individual influences a group of individuals towards achieving a common goal”.

Get rid of fear by loving people and see how they can connect with others.

Be confident and peaceful knowing who you are and what you carry.

You and I have been given exceedingly great promises.
